About me

Martina Gašpar

A tour guide, cultural tourism researcher and translator – I guess I can introduce myself with these words now. Cultural heritage and the written word have always interested me, not merely due to their wonderful past, but rather the way they can enrich our lives today. Experiencing, learning and sharing lie at the heart of what I do – be it guiding my fellow travellers, translating, researching, writing or teaching.

As for biographical data, let’s just say it’s been a fun ride. Along the way, apart from many interesting memories, I earned a master’s degree in English Literature and Art History from the University of Zagreb, completed a programme in International Business Management in Vancouver, did a five-month in-service training at the European Commission, worked on a digitalisation project in a private art archive, and in March 2020 found the courage to start my own business. Talk about timing!

In recent years I’ve been spending my time between my small seaside hometown and the City of Zagreb. Of course, when not on multi-day tours showing Croatia to overseas travelers. Interest in cultural tourism also made me embark on a PhD journey in Business Economics. It turns out that I’m a nature and art enthusiast embracing numbers and statistics. To balance it out, as a true Mediterranean, I never forget the importance of “dolce far niente.” Sometimes, that’s the hardest thing to do!
